Knowledge Translation Awards 2022

Goals:

-         To promote students as drivers of innovation in knowledge translation and evidence dissemination.

-         To shape an environment that values the importance of making evidence interpretable, persuasive, and actionable.

-         To encourage students to propose and adopt creative and innovative knowledge translation techniques and design targeted             

          dissemination strategies for specific public health or clinical practice audiences.

-         To extend the reach of Cochrane resources into the countries of international undergraduate and postgraduate students.

 

Award Details:

-         Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

-         All works will be judged by a panel of clinicians and local and international evidence-based specialists anonymously to ensure unbiased   and fair adjudication.

-         Call for entries: from 30 May 2022 till 29 August 2022

 

Knowledge Translation Awards 2022 (Two Categories)

1.    Knowledge Translation Creativity Award

  • This award recognises undergraduate and postgraduate students who demonstrate talent in creating accessible, effective, and visually appealing works of evidence communication based on a Cochrane intervention review. The final product should aim to support informed decision-making

Topics:

Any Cochrane intervention review published since 2019 (including at least 3 studies) on topics related to the following themes:

  1.  COVID-19
  2.  Brain, heart, environmental and community health 
  3.  Aging, behavioural and mental wellness
  4.  Cancer and palliative care
  5.  Other (please specify)

Format:

Any format that is appropriate for the presentation of a Plain Language Summary of a Cochrane intervention review including:

-         Animation

-         Video

-         Graphic presentation

-         PowerPoint presentation

-         Live presentation

-         Digital storytelling

-         Other digital format

 

Notes:

-         Should be produced in English and limited to 10 minutes.

-         Include the DOI or an online link to the full Cochrane review.

-         Ensure that you have the right to use any photos or videos in your entry.

-         Multiple entries are permitted.

 

Judging Criteria:

  1.  Communicate complete ideas or concepts and review findings in ways that encourage understanding.
  2.  Identify key messages and highlight the relevance of the topic for target audiences.
  3.  Employ innovative strategies to promote the transformation of research-generated knowledge into action.
  4.  Tailor and frame the message effectively to encourage implementation.
  5.  Use a dissemination format appealing to target audiences.
  6.  Demonstrate creativity and originality in presentation.
  7.  Ensure accuracy in presentation and interpretation of findings.
Award:
All award winners will be presented with a trophy and certificate

Knowledge Translation Creativity Award

2.    Cochrane Evidence Translation Award

  • This award recognises undergraduate and postgraduate students who demonstrate excellence in translating Cochrane evidence into a different language with consideration of the local context of the target audience.

Topics:

Any Cochrane intervention review published since 2019 (including at least 3 studies) on topics related to the following themes:

  1.  COVID-19
  2.  Brain, heart, environmental and community health
  3.  Aging, behavioural and mental wellness
  4.  Cancer and palliative care
  5.  Other (please specify)

Format:

Written translation of a Plain Language Summary from English to another language (e.g., Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Dutch, Hausa, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Simplified/Traditional Chinese, Swahili, Tagalog, Thai, Urdu).

Notes:

-         Do not select reviews with existing translations in your chosen language.

-         Submit the document as a Word file with font size 12.

-         Multiple entries are permitted.

-         Exceptional translations may be considered for publication in the Cochrane Library.

Judging Criteria:
  1.  Apply plain language principles in translation.
  2.  Use language that is understandable and accessible for people who are not familiar with medical terms or concepts, and research jargon.
  3.  Convey the original text's meaning accurately and use terminology relevant to the topic.
  4.  Transmit message and content clearly with no omissions and errors.
Award:
All award winners will be presented with a trophy and certificate
